RARE ITEM!! Offered is an early 1980s University of Minnesota Golden Gophers team-signed baseball with 21 signatures featuring 1989 World Series Champion TERRY STEINBACH ( Oakland Athletics & Minnesota Twins) and GEORGE THOMAS (Tigers, Angels, Red Sox & Twins; coach with Golden Gophers). Signatures have been authenticated as genuine by PSA/DNA and baseball is accompanied by a FULL PSA/DNA LOA. THIS BASEBALL was signed during Steinbach's college playing days and Thomas' coaching tenure with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Interestingly, Terry Steinbach's brother, Tom, was a teammate on the Golden Gophers' baseball team and also signed this baseball. Moderate toning and surface wear evident on baseball. Terry Steinbach is a former MLB player and coach who was a catcher from 1986 to 1999, most notably as a member of the Oakland Athletics team that won three consecutive AL pennants and a World Series championship in 1989. He played his final three seasons with the Minnesota Twins. Steinbach was three-time All-Star player and won the 1988 All-Star Game MVP Award and caught two no-hitters during his career. The Cleveland Indians selected Steinbach in the 16th round of the 1980 Major League Baseball Draft, but Steinbach chose not to sign. He enrolled at the University of Minnesota, and played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers' college baseball team. George Thomas signed a $25,000 bonus contract with the Tigers in 1957 after playing one season of varsity baseball with the University of Minnesota. Prohibited by the bonus rule of the time from being sent to the minor leagues, he appeared in only one big-league game in his first pro season and then then spent most of 1958 in the Tigers' farm system before later re-joining the Tigers. Later, Thomas became the assistant baseball coach for seven years at the University of Minnesota and the head coach for three years during which time he coached Terry Steinbach .. * * * I listed with a "Best Offer" option.
